Corsairs sweep Seahawks in North Dartmouth

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. (April 8, 2026) -- These teams were scheduled to play in the season-opener at Toppa Field followed by a mid-week meeting in North Dartmouth, but Mother Nature made sure they would not see softball action until they flew to Florida. Flash forward ahead one month later, UMass Dartmouth softball hosted and swept a non-league doubleheader against Salve Regina University, 4-2 and 10-4, at the UMD Softball Complex on the Corsairs' campus.

Salve Regina (3-17) scored first in both games. In the opener, Skyla Oliveira singled to to drive in Madeleine Oswald from third in the second inning. The Corsairs plated three in their third as Raelynn Perregaux scored on a wild pitch before back-to-back doubles by Sydney Menz and Lily Routhier.

In the fifth, Taylor Ferraiolo trimmed the deficit to one (3-2) when she scored an unearned run, but Menz struck an RBI double in the bottom of the frame for the 4-2 final.

Gracie Keyes had a pair of base hits for the Seahawks while Ferraiolo, Oliveira, and Lillian Bridges each had a stolen base on the contest.

After three scoreless innings in the nightcap, Oswald had her second double of the twinbill to bring home Emma Plourde with the game's first run in the fourth. Ryann Burke followed with a sacrifice fly that finished with Keyes crossing the plate. Lena Tsonis' three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth keyed a six-run inning for the Corsairs.

Burke and Plourde added RBI singles in the sixth and seventh, respectively, for the final Seahawk runs of the day. Keyes went 4-for-7 at the plate with two runs scored in the doubleheader. Caroline Peterson (L, 1-10) and Shea Murphy (L, 2-6) both went the distance in the circle in their respective outings for Salve Regina.

Salve Regina plays at Smith College on Friday in a NEWMAC doubleheader before hosting Wellesley College on Saturday afternoon. All games are broadcast on FloCollege.
