Salve Regina produces record goal total in season opener

13 different Seahawks notch goals in 20-0 win

NEW LONDON, Conn. (September 1, 2026) -- Senior captain Carah Leclair (Bellingham, Mass.) scored the season's first goal in the fourth minute and the Seahawks proceeded to add 19 more in a record-setting performance as Salve Regina University women's soccer defeated Mitchell College, 20-0, in the season opener for both teams at Alumni Field.

Salve Regina jumped out to an early advantage behind a pair of goals from Leclair and carried an 11-0 lead into halftime. The Seahawks added nine goals over the final 45 minutes to secure the victory.

Gianna Moreschi (Needham, Mass.) led the Seahawks with three goals, while Leclair, Ella Schwarz (North Easton, Mass.), Sienna Mastroianni (Whitinsville, Mass.), and Lana DiIuro (East Greenwich, R.I.) each scored twice.

Junior goalkeeper Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) made nine saves in the opening half for Mitchell, while sophomore Olivia Moses (Bloomfield, Conn.) recorded four saves in the second half. The duo combined for 13 saves in the contest.

The Seahawks (1-0-0, 0-0-0 NEWMAC) play their second of four straight road games to open the season on Saturday, September 5, at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury at 1 p.m. The game will be live streamed on FloCollege.
