Ty Ferris (Ridgewood, N.J.) tallied three goals and
Kevin Rivas (West Hartford, Conn.) converted a penalty kick as the Seahawks defeated the visiting Owls of Keene State College, 4-0, in non-league men's soccer action at Toppa Field on Tuesday evening in Newport.
Nick Giorgi (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), the only player on either side to play the full 90 minutes, stopped five Owls shots and recorded his third career shutout. In his first start of 2026, freshman
Max Melnick (Needham, Mass.) preserved the shutout with a defensive save.
Ferris scored 99 seconds into the contest after attacking a loose ball in front of the net. The 1-0 score carried into the second half when
Lincoln Freeman (Avon, Conn.) crossed to Ferris and the New Jersey junior jumped on it for his second goal of the game and third of the season.
In the 75th minute, Rivas scored his first goal of the year after sticking his penalty kick in the lower left corner. Ferris made it a hat trick and his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 86th minute.
Tommaso Lorei (Rome, Italy) spent the first 45 minutes between the posts for the Owls and made one save whileÂ
Mateu Farre-Torres (Encamp, Andorra) had two stops in the second half in goal.
The Owls edged the Seahawks in corner kick opportunities, 4-to-3, including the final one in the closing seconds.
The Seahawks (2-2-1) improve to 2-0 all-time versus the Owls which includes a 2-1 win three years ago on Toppa Field. Keene State falls to 1-5 on the season. Both teams begin their respective conference slates this weekend with Salve Regina traveling to Wheaton College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. NEWMAC contest and Keene State hosts UMass Dartmouth in their LEC opener at 5 p.m.
