THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Saturday, September 26, 2026) -- Salve Regina University football built a 42-0 advantage at halftime on the road in its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener against SUNY Maritime College at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, New York. Senior captain and quarterback
Padraig Brown (Newington, Conn.) ran for three touchdowns (12,2,48) and tossed another to junior wide receiver
Spencer Chapman (Needham, Mass.) for a 34-yard score as the Seahawks (4-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) finished with a 49-12 victory over the Privateers (2-2, 0-1 NEWMAC) at windy and rainy Reinhart Field in a Saturday morning start.
Salve Regina scored on its first four offensive drives, utilizing 16 plays and covering 169 yards, while also adding a special teams touchdown on a blocked punt by
Gianluca Checchetto (Verona, N.J.), with a scoop-and-score by
Rocco Del Giorno (Staten Island, N.Y.). The Seahawks had 28 points on the board in the first 15 minutes. In its last two games, Salve Regina has totaled 48 points in first quarter action and through the first four games of the season the Seahawks have at least a touchdown in the opening period of each game with 42 total points before the start of second quarter action.
Chapman extends his streak of catching a touchdown pass to 10 consecutive games which dates back to the 2025 season opening win against UMass Dartmouth.
The Seahawks win for the first time in three tries in Throggs Neck, and score 46 or more points against the Privateers for the third time in a winning decision (both previous times coming in Newport). Salve Regina improves to 5-2 in the all-time series and 3-1 in NEWMAC matchups.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Junior kicker Nathan DiRado (Carver, Mass.) made all seven of his PAT tries.
- Nine different Seahawks combined for eight sacks.
- Today marked the 25th time Salve Regina football has scored 49 or more points. Five of those times have been shutouts with the first in 1993 against Gallaudet (56-0) and the most-recent was three years ago at home against the Privateers.
Brown led a ground game with 79 of the team's season-high 227 yards, more than half his total coming on his last snap of the first half which he turned into a 48-yard score. Brown's first score capped a five-play, 61-yard drive. Senior
Michael LaRusso (Congers, N.Y.) finished off six-play, 42-yard drive, with his three-yard plunge into the end zone. Senior
Christopher Molina (Pawtucket, R.I.) had the final score for the Seahawks on their longest drive of the game (12 plays, 73 yards).
Dane Bryan (Fishkill, N.Y.) carried the ball 13 times for 41 yards.
Maritime spoiled the shutout bid with a bit of the Salve Regina playbook, blocking a punt with a recovery by
Wyatt Vreeland (Warwick, N.Y.) in the end zone with 36 seconds left in the third quarter.
Enrique Hernandez (Northport, N.Y.) scored on a 24-yard pass play from
Jaden Rotella (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) in the fourth to cap a 10-play, 60-yard drive, for the Privateers midway through the fourth quarter.
While only playing the first half,
Owen Nanartowich (Hudson, Mass.) once again led the Seahawk defensive unit with 10 tackles (three solo). Nine different Seahawks contributed to eight (8) sacks of Privateer quarterback Rotella --
