McAllister sets program record for career points as Seahawks blank Wildcats

Box Score

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.) broke the program record for career points as the Salve Regina University men's soccer team received goals from six different players to defeat intra-state rival Johnson & Wales University, 6-0 in a non-conference contest at Pierce Stadium on Monday afternoon.

McAllister scored on his only shot of the game in the 30th minute of play to collect the 88th point of his Salve Regina career while surpassing Eric Zimmer's (2003-06) previous program record of 87 points.

Salve Regina jumped out to the early lead when freshman Nicholas Carbone (Quincy, Mass.) put in a rebounded shot from junior Brian Sweeney (Waldeboro, Maine) just 3:24 into the game.  That goal proved to be the game winner.

Salve Regina continued to control the action and took a 2-0 lead a little over two minutes later when freshman Kyle Knoth (East Islip, N.Y.) put in a shot to the left corner of the net.  The visiting Seahawks then added a goal midway through the period and two more tallies less than a minute apart in the 29th minute en route to the 5-0 lead at halftime.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Seahawks cruised to the 6-0 victory while out shooting JWU by a 13-6 margin.

Junior Sean Dorsey (Seekonk, Mass.) posted four saves in the loss for JWU while Salve Regina sophomore Zachary Harlan (Egg Harbor, N.J.) had two stops in the win for the Seahawks.

With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 3-7-1 while Salve Regina improves to 5-5-1. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, October 5th when they travel to Rivier for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at 7:00 p.m. The Seahawks will also play on Wednesday, as they hit the road to face MIT at 4 p.m.
