Seahawks eliminated on final day of regular season

Box Score

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University men's soccer team collected a 2-0 shutout win over in-state rival Salve Regina University Tuesday evening.

Both team battled through a windy and chilly night. The cold temperatures and familiarity with both teams made a chippy contest throughout the night.

Trevor Sparda (Scarborough, Maine) got things started for the Hawks less than four minutes into the game, finding the back of the net after a corner kick to put Roger Williams up 1-0 early on.

The one goal lead last until the 26th minute, when the Hawks added another score. Sean Janson (Avon, Conn.) got a shot off in the box that was saved by Salve Regina keeper Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.). Riley Parnham (Califon, N.J.) would take possession of the loose ball and convert the shot for a goal, giving the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.

That would be all the scoring Roger Williams would need, as RWU kept the Seahawks off the scoreboard. It would not be for lack of effort by Salve, as they had chances to score and get back into the game, but just could not get the crucial goal.

Both Payan and RWU keeper Edmund Geschickter (Brookline, Mass.) made five saves in the game.

Roger Williams (6-11-2, 4-3-2 CCC) awaits to find out their CCC Tournament opponent, while Salve Regina ends the year at 4-12-1, 1-7-1 CCC.
