BRISTOL, R.I. (November 2, 2021) - Third-seeded Salve Regina University men's soccer (12-5-3) advances to its second straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship Game after a 3-0 victory at second-seeded Roger Williams University (11-7-3) on Tuesday evening in Bristol. The defending champion Seahawks will host Gordon College on Saturday, November 6, at 1 p.m., on Toppa Field in Newport.

The fourth-seeded Scots (11-5-2) knocked off the top-seeded Endicott College (8-7-2), 3-2, after scoring three goals in the second half in the matchup in Beverly, Mass., earlier in the afternoon.

Salve Regina won the 2019 CCC Championship Game, 3-2, in overtime against Endicott at Toppa Field (November 9, 2019 - box score).

Tonight, senior striker Alessandro Oggiano (Stoughton, Mass.) scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season on a set play off free kick right in front of Seahawk bench on right side taken by sophomore Jordan Borges (Milford, Mass.). Kick sent to weak side off right post, and Oggiano shoots into bottom left side of goal in the 38th minute.

Graduate student Jacob Guerra (Colchester, Conn.) scored two second half goals to raise his postseason total to four goals in two games this season. Evan Arpin (Andover, Mass.) passed down right sideline, before a backwards touch pass from Borges gets Guerra 1-on-1 versus Roger Williams defender. Guerra moved to get a good look off from right in front off right post, shoots middle high in the 48th minute.

Eight minutes later the Seahawks led 3-0 when Borges gathers loose ball and sends short pass to Guerra on goal line. Guerra drives, makes great move on RWU defender, to get 1-on-1 versus keeper, and shoots into right side of the net.

Borges now has six (6) assists in the last two postseason games - three in a 6-1 win over Curry at Toppa Field on Saturday, and three more tonight. Nathan Reid (Magnolia, Del.) made six saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

Salve Regina and Gordon have met 10 times before in CCC postseason men's soccer action including back-to-back finals appearances in 1992 (Scots won 4-3 on neutral site in Bristol) and 1993 (Scots won 2-0 on Reynolds Field in Newport). Gordon has won both its meetings with Salve Regina on the Toppa turf - 4-2 in 2018 postseason action after Salve Regina had gone undefeated in the regular season, and 3-0 last month.
