Box Score DALLAS, Pa. — Salve Regina baseball has won their second consecutive regional game, this time against Misericordia 11-4, to clinch a spot in the regional final.
Not only was it the Seahawks' second straight win, but it was the second straight win with double digit runs scored. The bats have been hot and pitching has been as good as it has had to be.
The Seahawks offense was led by Mike Breen (Auburn, Mass.) who went 2-of-4 from the plate with three runs batted in. Gianfranco Messina (Cranston, R.I.), Wil McCarthy (Pembroke, Mass.), Tyler Cannoe (Schenectady, N.Y.), and Evan O'Rourke (Arlington, Mass.) were among the other Seahawks hitters who had multi-hit games. So did Christian Homa (Fairfield, Conn.), who went 3-for-4 with an RBI. But that wasn't the only accomplishment on the day for Homa, who set the Salve baseball record for most hits in a single season with 74. Homa surpassed his own coach in the process, as Coach Eric Cirella had 71 hits in 2004.
The Seahawks earned a spot in the regional game and will face Misericordia. The final game is scheduled for May 21, at 11 a.m.
