CAIMBRIDGE, Mass. -- (Tuesday, October 1, 2024)-- The No. 5 Massachusetts Institute of Technology women's volleyball team beat Salve Regina in three sets going 25-10, 25-25-14 and 25-10 on Tuesday night. With this result MIT moves to 3-0 in the NEWMAC while Salve falls to 2-1.

Records: Salve Regina (5-8, 2-1 NEWMAC), MIT (15-0, 3-0 NEWMAC)
History: Salve Regina is 1-3 all-time against MIT. The Seahawks only win against the Engineers was a 3-2 final on September 10, 2010.
NOTEWORTHY:
- In set one the Engineers got out to an early 7-0 lead which came to an end with Cecelia Bronson's kill, getting Salve Regina on the board. In set two the Seahawks reversed roles, posting a 6-0 lead, thanks to four attack errors by the Engineers and kills from Lauren Hoyle and Avery Fitzgerald. The Engineers' following 7-point run got them back in the game, however, and they kept the momentum going for a set two win.
- Avery Fitzgerald (2), Lucy Swanson (2) and Lydia Daskalos (1) led the Seahawks in blocks. Daskalos now leads Salve Regina in total blocks with 22.
- Siena DeCicco posted the team high 13 assists and eight digs.
- Lauren Hoyle saw the Seahawks most kills (7).

On Saturday, October 5, Salve Regina will host Clark University and Endicott College in a tri-match with games at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
