#7 Babson stalls Salve Regina 2-1 on Play4TheCure day

The Seahawks fall to 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the NEWMAC

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- (Saturday, October 12, 2024)-- Salve Regina University field hockey fell 2-1 to National Field Hockey Coaches Association ranked No. 7 Babson College in NEWMAC action Saturday at Gaudet Field.

The first half of the game was scoreless for the Beavers and the Seahawks. Babson outshot Salve Regina 8-7 after 30 minutes however the Seahawks held off the Beavers for 38 minutes. Following a penalty corner for the Beavers Penny Baroni saw an opportunity from the top of the shooting circle for a through-traffic goal. Babson struck again at the 44:34 minute mark resulting from a scramble for possession right in front of Salve Regina's net.

In a breakaway play five minutes later Julia Decker sprinted down the field, sending the ball over the shoulders of Babson's Bayla Furmanek and into the corner of the net. Decker's goal got the Seahawks on the board with just under ten minutes left to play.
