Bears bombard Seahawks 3-0

Salve Regina moves to 6-14 overall, 3-5 in the NEWMAC

NEWPORT, R.I. -- (Tuesday, October 22, 2024)-- The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team fell in three sets to the United States Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday night in NEWMAC action at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Even though Lydia Daskalos got the day going and the Bears made an attack error to follow, Coast Guard saw success early in the first set with a 6-2 lead. The Seahawks made several late pushes with one four-point run to go from 24-18 to 24-21, but Coast Guard only needed one point to give them a set advantage and they took it.

The lead fluctuated several times in set three after the Bears were up 7-1 early on. Salve Regina climbed back to tie it at 8-8 thanks to four kills from Lauren Hoyle. Salve Regina led 15-12 mid-set but five consecutive Bear points with two kills apiece from Shannon Shaw and Eloise Shirley turned the set in favor of the Bears.
