NEWPORT, R.I. -- (Saturday, October 26, 2024)-- Freshman Anouk Jansen and senior Siena DeCicco marshaled Salve Regina women's volleyball back from a match one 3-2 loss to Bates College to a 3-0 shutout of Lasell University, Jansen led the team in kills against Lasell and DeCicco achieved a career benchmark of 2,000 assists. Salve volleyball also honored seniors Avery Fitzgerald, Kaitlyn Ford, Jacey Cosciello and Siena DeCicco before match two against Lasell.Â
Fitzgerald is graduating with a degree in biology on the 3 and 3 PharmD track and will be going to University of St. Josephy in Connecticut to complete her doctorate in pharmacy. Her favorite Salve volleyball memory is the warm and welcoming family feeling she got her freshman year during the team's chili night.
Ford is a biology major who plans to go to graduate school to obtain her nursing degree to become a travel nurse. She lists her favorite Salve volleyball memory as beating Emerson in last year's senior day to pick up the teams first ever NEWMAC win.
Cosciello is a nursing major who plans to take her NCLEX exam after graduation to become a registered nurse. Her favorite Salve volleyball memory was last year's Drew Ceppetelli Scholarship Foundation game where everyone came to support the team.
Finally, DeCicco is a nursing major who plans to go back home to Maryland to be a substance abuse or child psychiatric nurse and eventually become a nurse practitioner. Her favorite Seahawk volleyball memory is when she and Cosciello collided with each other and the bleachers in pursuit of the ball, which also happened to be caught on game film.

QUOTING COACH NOORDZY:
"Today's 1-1 day was an incredibly gritty day. Between the five set come back attempt that we unfortunately weren't able to close out, to the three set win with some really aggressive and efficient attacking. It was a great celebration of our graduating class and to cap it off, a great performance by Siena DeCicco who cemented her spot in the record books with the second highest assist total in school history."

Next Tuesday, October 29, at 7 p.m. Salve Regina will host Wheaton College in a NEWMAC match at Rodgers Recreation Center.
