Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Seahawks acquiesce to Lyons, 3-2

Wheaton earns their first NEWMAC win of the season

NEWPORT, R.I. -- (Tuesday, October 29, 2024)-- The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team forced a five-setter against NEWMAC adversary Wheaton College following successful first and fourth sets.

The Seahawks started out the day with a 5-0 lead, which quickly moved to 11-2 when Lucy Swanson and Lauren Hoyle each posted two kills. Wheaton gradually made a comeback later in the set to decrease the margin, 25-20. Across sets two and three the Lyons turned the game around with two wins of their own (25-18, 25-20) to give them a slight edge over the Seahawks.

The fourth set was knotted at 24, but Salve Regina saw the final two points to force the contest to a fifth deciding set. Three three-point runs later in the action elevated the Lyons 3-2 over the Seahawks and gave them their first conference win of the 2024 season.

The Seahawks held their annual Drew Cepp Scholarship Fund game at Rodgers Recreation Center. The foundation supports Drew Ceppetelli, who was a four-year softball student-athlete at Salve Regina. She sadly passed away in a car accident her fall semester of her senior year in 2022. Her parents created this scholarship fund in her memory to help future students.
