Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Seahawks secure 6-2 conference win over Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. -- (Tuesday, October 8, 2024)-- Salve Regina University field hockey's Natalie Vaughan scored in the first minute of action against the hosting Wheaton College Lyons which allowed for Georgia Costello, Julia Decker, Shannon Kennedy and Kira Spedden to break the game wide open in a 6-2 NEWMAC win for the Seahawks.

Vaughan's goal, her third of the season, stuck for just over 15 minutes before Wheaton's Riley Levrault tied the game at 1-1. This wasn't a deterrent for Salve Regina, because Costello scored the next two goals in a 35 second span and Decker, Kennedy and Spedden added in between the 33 and 55 minute marks. Costello's first goal was the result of a penalty corner after she snaked around the Lyons goalkeeper and fired at the right post and her second goal came off her own rebounded save.
