Seahawks fall 7-6 to Babson despite Brunton's goal at buzzer

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Saturday, November 16, 2024)-- Despite Matthew Brunton's goal in the last four seconds of regulation Salve Regina University men's ice hockey fell 7-6 to the host Babson College in conference play on Saturday.

Babson, coming off a 5-3 loss last night, got right to it and fired off their first two goals in the opening five minutes from the sticks of Jimmy Fallon and Brendan Kennedy. Before the first period was over, Salve Regina established a 3-2 lead, counteracting the Beavers, thanks to Arvega HovsepyanDamon Zimmer and Aidan Coupe. It was Hovsepyan's third goal on the season and first for Zimmer and Coupe.

Babson made a counter move, making the score 5-3 when Jimmy Fallon achieved a hat trick near the end of the second period. The pace did not slow down for either team in the final 20 minutes, but with a two point lead already Babson managed to score twice more and stay slightly ahead even though Arvega Hovsepyan, Quinn Tavares and Matthew Brunton added in goals as the time expired. Brunton's goal came as the result of an extra skater addition with an empty net.
