Cayden Bailey from No.14 Salve Regina University men's ice hockey posted 49 saves against No.1 Hobart College in NEHC action on Friday night when the Seahawks were unable to get on the board in a 4-0 final.Â

History: Salve Regina has never beat Hobart in the program's history. In 2022, when the teams last saw each other Salve Regina forced an overtime period with a 1-1 score at the end of regulation. The Statesmen scored in the first 18 seconds of the game and Salve Regina's
Logan Calder struck back three minutes later. It wasn't until two minutes into overtime that Shane Shell netted Hobart's game winning goal to demote Salve Regina 2-1.Â
NOTEWORTHY:
- Salve Regina held Hobart off for the first period. After just 20 minutes the stats were close with Hobart leading Salve Regina 11-10 in shots on goal.Â
- Hobart's Chris Duclair broke the stalemate at 10:43 in period two. By the end of the period Hobart's Tristan Fasig would add in with a short handed goal for a 2-0 Statesmen lead.Â
- The turning point came in the final period, when Hobart forced Bailey to make 24 saves, peppering the net and keeping the action in their attack zone.Â
- The encounter saw an immense amount of penalties including two game misconduct infractions-- one for each team.Â
