Husson gets home win over Salve Regina

Hunter Schultz scores second goal of season

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's soccer team captured its first win at Boucher Field during the Carlos Bermudez era, thanks to a 2-1 victory over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon.

Husson (3-1-1) broke the scoreless-deadlock in the 15th minute as graduate student Mosi Masimango tapped a ball past the Salve Regina (2-4) goalkeeper and into the bottom right corner off of a free kick from junior Carlos Etchevers to put the Eagles ahead 1-0.

Senior Alejandro Mora doubled the Husson lead in the 27th minute, as he received the ball on the right wing and touched the ball to his right side, past a Seahawks' defender, giving him enough room to blast a shot into the back of the net.

Salve Regina shaved one goal off of the deficit before the end of the opening 45 minutes, as Hunter Schultz cut over the face of the Eagles' defense and rifled a pass from Lincoln Freeman into the goal to bring the Seahawks within 2-1 in the 37th minute.

The Husson defense was able to lock down Salve Regina in the second half, limiting them to no shots on target, as it came away with the non-conference win.

Both teams fired 12 shots over the course of the game, with the Eagles holding a 6-3 edge in shots on goal and a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.
