Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Camels curb Seahawks 3-0

NEWPORT, R.I.
-- (Tuesday, September 3, 2024)-- Salve Regina University women's volleyball slipped 3-0, after a close 25-23 second set, to NESCAC program Connecticut College in the Seahawks first home game of 2024.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Connecticut College 3, Salve Regina 0
Records: Salve Regina (0-3), Connecticut College (1-0)
History: The Seahawks are 4-12 against the Camels since 2003. In 2022 and 2023 Salve Regina was victorious against Connecticut College. In 2023 the team from Newport won 3-1.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Camels got out to a hearty lead early 9-2 in the first set, but the Seahawks challenged with a five-point run late in the set to finish behind by only four points (25-21).
  • During set two Salve Regina got to work. The team made it 14-12 thanks to Lauren Hoyle's kill (from Siena DeCicco) and an attack error by Connecticut. Even though the teams battled it out to reach 23-23 it was the Camels that squeezed out the last two points.
  • Once again, the third set was competitive, but Connecticut took advantage of several later errors for a 25-18 final and a 3-0 victory.

INSIDE THE STATS:

QUOTING COACH NOORDZY:
"After a tough weekend, we were able to find some immediate upgrades in our game and we were able to implement them against Connecticut College. We have a talented team, and the girls and coaching staff is working hard to figure out the pieces. If this trend of growth continues, I think we'll be very prepped for conference play. We have a tough test at Wesleyan on Friday and we'll be looking to continue to push the needle in the right direction."

ON THE HORIZON:

On Friday, September 6, at 7 p.m. women's volleyball will travel to Middletown, Connecticut to face another NESCAC institution, Wesleyan University.
