NEWPORT, R.I. - After a scoreless first quarter, the Salve Regina University football team got a pick six from junior linebacker Marc Promutico who raced 35 yards for the game's first score as the Seahawks defeated the Colonels of Curry College, 28-10, in a season-opening non-league match up at Toppa Field in Newport, Rhode Island. The Seahawks (1-0) have won the season opener 10 out of 11 times in the head coaching career of Kevin Gilmartin (no games played in 2020). The Colonels (0-1) had more yards gained than the Seahawks but also threw two interceptions and had a botched punt which ended out of bounds at their own one-yard line. Jacob Hernandez easily converted the one-play touchdown drive with a run up the middle.
