MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (Saturday, January 11, 2025)-- Salve Regina University men's ice hockey overcame a 4-2 deficit against New England College to win 5-4 two minutes into overtime resulting from
Walter Baumann's slap shot from the face off circle.

History: With yesterday's win Salve Regina led 3-2 in series history against New England College. Tonight's verdict moves the record to 4-2 in favor of the Seahawks.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Salve opened the game with a face off win and It took less than five minutes for the Seahawks to jump out to an early lead. Damon Zimmer found the back of the net in his fifth goal of the season with an assist from Aidan Connolly. In the following ten minutes two Seahawks were sent to the penalty box, however with a 5-4 situation Jonathan Hammel executed a breakaway play, accelerating past two Pilgrim defensemen to sink a shorthanded goal at 13:51 in the first period.
- The Pilgrims put the pressure on beginning 15 seconds into period two. Right as Seahawk penalty expired that had carried over from the first period NEC's Egor Osipik took a slap shot which bounced off Selby Warren's glove and landed in the net. NEC carried this energy all the way to 7:24 on the score board in the third period when Paul Waldhauser closed out a four-goal run for the Pilgrims with a power play success.
- In a calculated move, the Seahawks pulled Warren from the ice in the final five minutes. With an extra attacker advantage Hammel's shot was rebounded by Cade DeStefani who got his fourth goal of the season. Keeping the extra attacker and leaving the net unattended Hammel fired off a shot with 1:40 to go in the game and it went in sending the teams to overtime.
- Walter Baumann secured the OT victory for Salve Regina when he received the puck at center ice and staked past the blue line, making a snipe to end the game 1:55 into the sudden victory period.
- Selby Warren and Anthony Beaulieu each made 35 saves. Salve saw their most shots on net in period one with 14 while NEC's period high of 15 came in the middle 20 minutes.
- Salve Regina had a 35-28 advantage in the face off circle.
