GORHAM, Maine. (Friday, January 17, 2025)-- Salve Regina men's ice hockey pulled even to emerge out of a 2-0 hole with all the regulation scoring in the second period against the University of Southern Maine, however the Huskies overtime power play goal was the catalyst in their 3-2 NEHC win.

History: The Seahawks have not seen the Huskies in men's ice hockey since the 2009-10 season. On January 2, 2010 Southern Maine beat Salve Regina 7-3. Patrick Bambery, Tyler Trott and Nathaniel Burns were the three Seahawks that scored.
NOTEWORTHY:
- The first period saw 12 shots on goal by the Seahawks and five by the host, however no one was able to convert until period two.
- The Huskies kick-started the action when Kadin Ilott and Conor Donovan found the back of the net within 2:30 of each other.
- Just 35 seconds after Southern Maine established their lead Salve Regina, led by Quinn Tavares, shrunk it to a one-point advantage with his sixth goal of the season.
- Kaiden Kanderka followed Tavares' lead with a success of his own at the 18:55 mark in the second period. This was Kanderka's first goal of the year and first goal since the 2021-22 season.
- Southern Maine curtailed Salve Regina's two-goal run with a sudden victory goal 1:16 into overtime when Matt Sullivan scored after an interference call on the Seahawks and an extra skater advantage for the Huskies.
- Cayden Bailey made 26 saves and Huskies' Kyle Penton had 31.
