Taylor Hannafan made 38 saves for Salve Regina women's ice hockey against the defending national runner-up Elmira College in a 3-1 victory at Howard Rink.

History: Tonight's game is the first meeting between the Seahawks and Soaring Eagles in women's ice hockey. January of 2017 is the most recent time any Salve Regina athletic team saw Elmira and it was a 5-2 loss for men's ice hockey.
NOTEWORTHY
- Samantha McKenzie began the scoring for the Seahawks 13 minutes into the action off a rebounded shot by Sarah Bush from outside the attack zone face off circle.
- Emily Wroblewski added to the tally with a backhanded shot resulting from a breakaway play at the 16:31 mark of the first period. Wroblewski scored once again at the 15:51 in the second period making it 3-0
- Seahawk defenders Sarah Bush, Taylor Stirling (first line), Jennifer Drevitch, Emma Pereira (second line), Caroline Pekkala and Grace Dumond (third line) were reliable when it counted, with Elmira peppering the net and forcing Hannafan to 28 saves. The Seahawks only fired off 10 shots across three periods, but all the team needed was accuracy which they found with three successes.
- Elmira's Leonie Kuehberger had seven saves until she was replaced by Emily Finach, for the final period, who made three stops before exiting the game for the last four minutes.
- Elmira was able to squeeze in a goal when they pulled Finach, giving the Soaring Eagles a six-on-five skater advantage.

Tomorrow at noon Salve Regina women's ice hockey is back in action against the Soaring Eagles at home. In a hockey double-header the men's team takes on Albertus Magnus at home on Mental Health Awareness Night at 8 p.m.
