Quinn Tavares scored his first collegiate hat trick in Salve Regina University men's ice hockey's considerable 9-0 shutout of Framingham State University on Saturday.

History: The Seahawks and Rams haven't met since 2008, when the teams tied 2-2. Between the 2005 and 2008 seasons Salve Regina saw Framingham State five times and went 3-1-1. The sole loss was a 4-0 shortcoming in January of 2006.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Just like last night's game against Wesleyan University Jonathan Hammel was the first to score when the he stole the puck away from the rams. He netted his sixth goal of the season when he broke free of Framingham's defensemen during a transition.
- Arvega Hovsepyan wasted no time in extending the Seahawks lead 2-0 after taking a face off in the attack zone and redirecting the puck immediate to the back of the Rams' net.
- At the 8:14 mark in the first period, Damon Zimmer scored his fourth goal of the year 14 seconds into a power play for the teams the 13th power play goal of the year. In the span of 4:36 Salve Regina scored three goals to start the game.
- To make it 4-0 Quinn Tavares scored his second career goal from the slot in an even strength situation at the 15:12 mark. The Seahawks led shots on goal 16-10 after 20 minutes.
- Josh Kroon blocked a shot early in the second period which led the way for the Seahawks to possess. Back in the Ram's defensive zone Matthew Brunton scored his sixth goal of the season with a one-timer from the high slot. The Seahawks led 5-0.
- Salve carried their early momentum to period two with a 21-5 shots-on-goal advantage.
- Just 20 seconds into the final period Kaeden Tenkoppel scored his second goal of the season with a long shot from just inside the blue line on the power play.
- Tavares went on to score the Seahawks next two goals for a hat trick and four career goals, bringing the game to a blistering 8-0.
- The excitement continued when Braden Paquette was tripped near the Rams crease and had an opportunity for a penalty shot. Paquette netted his first goal of the season with a backhanded shot and the contest went in the books 9-0 in favor of Salve.
- Goalie Selby Warren made 21 saves in the shutout.
- Salve Regina outshot Framingham State 55-21 and converted on 50% of their power plays (2-for-4).

On Friday, January 10, the Seahawks will be back on their home Howard Rink ice for a 7:30 p.m. game against NEHC team New England College.
