MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- (Wednesday, September 30, 2025)-- Salve Regina University field hockey found an early lead and fought off an Eastern Connecticut State University comeback to win 3-2 against the Warriors in non conference play on a windy autumn night at Gaudet Field.
The Seahawks got going early when
Julia Decker scored her 12th goal of the season four minutes into the contest. Salve Regina held on to a 1-0 lead going into halftime with an 11-0 shots-on-goal advantage.
Eastern Connecticut made it on the board in the third quarter. At the 39:41 mark into the game Audrey Molin scored for the visitor and it was a 1-1 tied game.
The Seahawks counteracted with two goals in the fourth quarter--
Bella Gannon with her first of the evening and Decker with her second. The Warriors had one final success in the last two minutes, which made it a one goal game.

History: Dating back to the year 2000 Salve Regina is 15-2 against Eastern Connecticut. Last year when the Seahawks traveled to play the Warriors at their home field in Willimantic Salve won 3-1. Angelina Regels, Georgia Costello and Shannon Kennedy all scored.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Siany Ortez protected the Seahawks goal for 60 minutes and made one save. Warriors' Hannah Jalowiec served in net for the visitor and made 11 saves.
- Salve Regina outshot Eastern Connecticut 15-3.
- The hosting Seahawks had a 12-4 penalty corner advantage.
- Julia Decker saw the most shots on goal for Salve Regina.
