WELLESLEY, Mass. -- (Saturday, October 4, 2025)-- In a scoreless game until overtime, Salve Regina University field hockey succumbed 1-0 to Wellesley College in NEWMAC action on the road when the Blue scored with 62:52 gone from the game.
The Seahawks were led by ten shots from
Georgia Costello over the course of the game. First-year
Siany Ortez stopped eight shots throughout the affair, only allowing the single score in OT.
Salve Regina had a 26-12 edge in shots taken, though it was Wellesley with the 9-8 advantage in shots on goal.

Records: Salve Regina (8-2, 1-2 NEWMAC), Wellesley (3-7, 1-2 NEWMAC)
History: The Seahawks have yet to claim a victory over Wellesley in field hockey. When the teams first met in 2022 the Blue won 3-2 and last year Wellesley emerged with a 4-1 win. Against the Blue last year Julia Decker got the Seahawks on the board with an assist from Georgia Costello. It was Decker's 17th goal of the season.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Salve Regina had an 11-8 penalty corner advantage.
- The Seahawks were issued one greed card and a yellow card during the encounter.
- Siany Ortez served 60 minutes in goal for Salve Regina.

Next week the Seahawks will have another opportunity to see conference action this time at home on Tuesday, October 7, at 6 p.m. when the Clark University Cougars make the trip to Gaudet Field.
