Seahawks eclipsed by Lyons, 3-0

NORTON, Mass. -- (Tuesday, October 14, 2025)-- Led by 11 kills from Anouk Jansen, Salve Regina University women's volleyball was competitive with Wheaton College but eventually fell 3-0 to the Lyons in NEWMAC action on the road Tuesday evening.

Jansen got the first point of the day with a kill to start it off but Whaton never allowed anything more than a one point Seahawk lead across three sets. The longest Salve Regina scoring series were 3-point runs in the first and third sets. The final set was the closest for the visiting Seahawks as the team held Wheaton to just a 2-point margin victory.

History: The Seahawks have not yet claimed a NEWMAC victory over the Lyons. Since joining the conference in 2023 Salve Regina has seen Wheaton on three occasions. The past two contests provided the same 3-2 verdict in favor of Wheaton.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jansen led the Seahawks in the kill category and posted a hitting percentage of .280. She was followed up by Jenna DeFrancesco, who had 7 kills, and Lauren Hoyle who saw 6. 
  • Both Kate Andy and Sydney Hanlon were team leaders with 14 assists.
  • Lydia Daskalos had 3 service aces.
  • Madelyn Homer was the top Seahawk in the dig category with 14, which was the game high across both teams.

ON THE HORIZON:
On Saturday, October 18, Salve Regina Fall Festival Weekend, women's volleyball will host a tri-match against Smith College and Worcester State University.
