Seahawks blanked by No. 3 Beavers

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Salve Regina University field hockey was circumvented by the hosting No.3 Babson College Beavers 4-0 on Saturday in NEWMAC action at MacDowell Field.

Four different Beavers scored over the course of the encounter with the first goal occurring at the 2:05 mark. Salve Regina made a number of attempts, led by Georgia Costello who was the team leader in shots on goal, but the team was unable to capitalize. 

The Seahawks nearly got on the board after Babson's first goal but the Beavers goalkeeper made a stop on Salve's first shot by Costello and then denied Julia Decker from point-blank range on the rebound.

History: The Seahawks have an 0-9 history against Babson all-time since the first meeting in 1998. Last year when the two teams met the Beavers won 2-1. Julia Decker got the Seahawks on the board in the 50th minute of play. 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Beavers outshot the Seahawks 15-3.
  • Siany Ortez made 11 saves by recording double-digit stops for the third time in her last four games.
  • Babson had a 19-0 penalty corner advantage.
  • The Seahawks saw two green cards over the course of the game.

ON THE HORIZON:
On Wednesday, October 29, at 7 p.m. field hockey will travel to Springfield, Mass. to play Western New England University in a non conference matchup.
