Salve Regina scores 4-1 win against Clark

Four different Seahawks tally in NEWMAC victory

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- The Salve Regina University field hockey team evens its league mark at 2-2 (.500) in NEWMAC standings after a 4-1 victory over the Clark University Cougars Tuesday night on Gaudet Field.

The Seahawks (9-2, 2-2 NEWMAC) scored a goal in each quarter with four different players finding the back of the cage. Georgia Costello (North Easton, Mass.) struck in the first quarter after teeing up a shot off a feed from Angelina Regels (Schenectady, N.Y.) on a penalty corner initiated by Bella Gannon (West Yarmouth, Mass.). Gannon's penalty corner in the second quarter keyed a team-leading 15th goal of the season for senior Julia Decker (Newton, N.J.).

Salve Regina upped its advantage to 3-0 in the third quarter when Jordyn Pineau (South Dennis, Mass.) tipped in a long shot from Regels. It was Pineau's first goal of the season.

Clark found the cage in the fourth quarter to spoil the shutout bid for Seahawk freshman Siany Ortez (Attleboro, Mass.). Morgan Brown (Homer, N.Y.) joined three other Cougars with a team-high seventh goal of the season. Ortez had gone seven consecutive regulation quarters without allowing a score.

For insurance, freshman Elliot Lund (Beverly, Mass.) capped the scoring with her seventh goal of the season.
