Seahawks bested 3-0 by Engineers

NEWPORT, R.I. -- (Tuesday, October 7, 2025)-- Despite a competitive third set Salve Regina University volleyball fell 3-0 to Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the Rodgers Recreation Center in NEWMAC action on Tuesday.

In conjunction with the NEWMAC and the NCAA, Salve Regina University honors the hard work and dedication of officials everywhere for Officials Appreciation Week. This marks the fourth year of the Division III Commissioners Association (DIIICA) initiative to highlight and thank conference officials across all sports. To kick off the year, the fall celebration will take place from October 5th to October 11th, followed by the winter celebration from January 11th to January 17th, and the spring celebration from April 5th to April 11th.The commitment of NEWMAC officials and referees to safe, fair, and competitive contests is a critical part of the student-athlete experience, and this initiative provides an opportunity to recognize their contributions.

History: The Seahawks have an 0-3 record against the Engineers since joining the NEWMAC conference for the 2023 season. The Engineers advanced to the NCAA championships in 2023 and 2024. In 2023 MIT fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in the NCAA Regional Final round. In that same round in 2024 the Engineers were overpowered by University of La Verne.

The Seahawks are back with another NEWMAC game on Tuesday, October 14, at 7 p.m. on the road against Wheaton College.
