MILTON, Mass. -- Salve Regina University men's basketball plays Regis College on Friday evening on the first day of the Autism Acceptance Classic hosted by Curry College at the Katz Gymnasium.
Salve Regina carried a dominant first half and never looked back, defeating Regis College 68-51. The Seahawks built a commanding 35-16 lead by halftime thanks to strong inside play and transition points. Early in the game, Salve seized momentum with layups by Sean Seymour and William Mensah that helped propel them into double-digit territory. Seymour finished with 16 points, while Jack McMullen added 10, grabbing 10 rebounds. Regis attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, going 14-30 before the break for 46.7% shooting and hitting four threes in the half. But Salve's balanced attack, efficient free-throw shooting (12-17 for 71 %) and strong paint scoring (44 points in the paint) kept them ahead. Regis's leading scorer, Jamir Harvey, had 20 points on 9-14 shooting, but his team could not overcome Salve's consistent scoring and defensive stops. The Seahawks' bench contributed 17 points, providing depth that helped maintain control through the second half. In the end, Salve Regina improved to 2-0 while Regis slipped to 1-1.
