MILTON, Mass. -- Salve Regina University men's basketball plays Curry College on Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Autism Acceptance Classic hosted by the Colonels at the Katz Gymnasium.
In a dominant showing, the Salve Regina Seahawks (3-0) cruised past the Curry College Colonels (1-3), 91-62, behind a breakthrough first half and sustained pressure in the second. Salve's opening surge set the tone — leading 42-26 at half. Key plays included a fast-break layup by Domenic Malvey to make it 46-26 early in the second half, followed by a burst where Jack McMullen knocked down a 3-pointer and converted a fast break lay-in to expand the margin to 73-48 with roughly nine minutes remaining.
Salve's leading scorers were Sean Seymour with 21 points (9-15 FG, 3-7 3-PT) and Jack McMullen with 20 points (8-12 FG, 4-7 3-PT). The Seahawks' top rebounder was Pat Spenard, who pulled down six defensive boards (total eight rebounds) and chipped in 14 points.Â
For Curry, Jeremiah Predin led all scorers with 20 points (9-16 FG) while Manny Hidalgo added 15 points. Predin also contributed six rebounds, though the rest of the roster combined for 14 rebounds as a team, compared to Salve's 33 second-chance opportunities.Â
A turning point came when Salve went on a 15–2 run late in the first half, turning a 26–22 game into a 42–26 halftime lead. Curry never recovered, as Salve sustained pressure with turnovers forced (10 steals) and 27 points off turnovers overall.Â
In the second half Salve didn't ease off — quick layups and timely 3-pointers kept their lead in the 20+ point range, and Curry's lone big surge — a 3-pointer by Favour Okeke to make it 52–35 — wasn't enough to halt Salve's momentum.Â
In short: Salve's balanced attack, rebounding edge and secured turnovers carried the Seahawks to a convincing 29-point win.
