SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Salve Regina University women's basketball had its two-game win streak halted with a 66-49 loss at Western New England University in the opener of the Hampton Inn Holiday Classic at the Alumni Healthful Living Center on Friday evening.

Senior captain Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) led the Seahawks (2-4) with 18 points with a dozen coming from trips to the free throw line. Emma Cochrane (Norton, Mass.) scored 10 points off the bench for Salve Regina.

For the hosts, Sophie Hedge (Guilford, Conn.) led all players with 20 points in just over 23 minutes played. The Golden Bears (3-2) led 35-16 at halftime while the Seahawks would outscore them in each of the final two quarters, 17-16 in the third and 16-15 in the fourth.

Salve Regina will play St. Lawrence University (3-1) tomorrow at noon on the same hardwood after the Saints fell for the first time this season, 62-48, to Connecticut College. The Camels (2-2) and Golden Bears will meet at 2 p.m. in the title game.
