New Haven gets best of Salve Regina

Seahawks led by Seymour (18) and Spenard (10)

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Salve Regina University men's basketball (5-1) suffered its first setback of the season, 78-47, playing at Division I University of New Haven at The Hazell Center in non-league action on Tuesday evening. The Seahawks' program record win streak at the start of a season ends similarly to the previous mark (4-0) set in 2013 before a loss at Division I Bryant University.

Seniors Sean Seymour (Albany, N.Y.) and Pat Spenard (Rochester, Mass.) led the Seahawks on the scoreboard with 18 and 10 points, respectively. Seymour had the first two layups of the game for Salve Regina and after Jack Margoupis (Sutton, Mass.) sank a 3-pointer, the Seahawks had their largest lead of the game, 7-2.

There were five lead changes and three ties in the game, all in the first half. The hosts outscored the previously unbeaten visitors, 40-19, in the second half.
