NEWPORT, R.I. -- Salve Regina University women's basketball finished with four starters in double figures led by junior
Sofia Neary's 10th double double of the season (18 points, 11 rebounds) to defeat Clark University, 82, 63, in NEWMAC action at the Rodgers Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon in Newport, Rhode Island.
The Seahawks (12-10, 5-4 NEWMAC) celebrated their grads and lone senior (
Ashley Rourke) for their careers at Salve Regina before tip-off. Rourke and
Amanda Folan both had 12 points including two treys apiece.
Briana Neary scored 14 points while
Marissa Forino added 11 off the bench.

Records: Salve Regina (12-10, 5-4 NEWMAC), Clark (11-12, 3-6 NEWMAC)
History: These programs meet for the seventh time overall and second as fellow members of the NEWMAC. Ahead of its first official season in the league, Salve Regina played at the Worcester, Massachusetts, campus and defeated Clark by 10 (72-62), for its only victory in the all-time series. The Cougars improved to 5-1 with last year's first-ever league meeting (also in Worcester), an 86-82 win.
Sofia Neary posted a double-double with team-highs 19 points and 13 rebounds, but it was not enough against Clark who was led by Alaina Schatzabel with 21 points and also had a double-double with 13 rebounds for the Cougars.
