MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (Wednesday, March 19, 2025)-- Salve Regina men's lacrosse defied the visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers 18-11 in non conference play at Gaudet Field by fighting a comeback made by MMA in the second half of the game. Chris Koltzan and Daniel Naglieri combined for 10 goals.
In the first five minutes of action Salve Regina jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to Christopher Bethoney, Casey Johnson and Ryan Bothe. The Buccaneers would pot one goal, making it a 3-1 game with six minutes to go in the first quarter. The host answered with a nine-goal run to end the first half ahead by ten goals, 12-2.
The Buccaneers stayed in the game with eight unanswered goals to start quarter three and they closed the gap to within three goals with a score of 12-9. Casey Johnson ended the Seahawks' scoring drought and the momentum generated five more goals for the home team, fo of which came from Chris Koltzan who posted six in total on the day.
