NEW LONDON, Conn. (Wednesday, March 26, 2025)-- Freshman Madison Maire scored her first NCAA goal with five minutes remaining in the third quarter when the Seahawks dropped 16-6 on the road to fellow NEWMAC competitor, the United States Coast Guard Academy.
With scattered rain drops falling at Bears' Cadet Memorial Field USCGA got to work by scoring twice in the first five minutes of action. The Seahawks cut the lead to 2-1 when Kayli Garcia found the back of the net with her first of two goals against the Bears at the 9:20 mark in the first quarter.
USCGA was able to muster a nine-goal run during the the first, second and early third periods but Garcia broke the host's momentum with her second goal with 8:36 remaining in the third quarter.
Alix Madden, Madison Maire and Daniella Bruno contributed in the late third and fourth quarters to disrupt the Bears' offensive front. Although the Seahawks generated a momentum shift late in the game Coast Guard held on to their early lead and finished the game ahead 16-6.

History: Salve women's lacrosse is 1-4 all-time against USCGA. The last four meetings have been wins for the Bears. The first time the two programs met on February 28, 2017, Salve Regina won 17-7. Last year, Salve's first year competing in the NEWMAC, the Bears made the trip to Gaudet Field and claimed a 15-5 conference win. Samantha Moleti, Kayli Garcia, Edie Threshie and Trinity Custodia accounted for the Seahaws scoring. Grace Haesche made 17 saves for the host.

- Seahawk goalie Flynn Kayajan made eight saves.
- The Bears outshot the Seahawks 20-13.
- Salve Regina picked up 23 ground balls while the host grabbed 17. Daniella Bruno led the team's efforts with four of the Seahawks' 23 ground balls.
