HARTFORD, Conn. -- (Saturday, August 30, 2025)-- Salve Regina University began the season with a 3-1 victory over the hosting University of Hartford Hawks on the road after securing an early lead after the first set.
Set one was back-and-forth early on until the Hawks pulled away 11-4, but the visiting Seahawks overcame the deficit to win the set 25-22. Hartford claimed a 25-23 win in set number two when the Hawks found an early lead. Salve made a move to decrease the 18-11 shortfall but Hartford clung on. An early lead in set three gave Salve a 2-1 set advantage. Although the fourth set started off with both teams fighting for position, the Seahawks went on a 6-1 run to take a 20-15 lead thanks to Lauren Shurling's service ace, a pair of kills from Lucy Swanson and a series of errors by the Hawks.
