NEW LONDON, Conn. -- (Tuesday, September 2, 2025)-- Salve Regina University women's volleyball fell 3-0 to NESCAC institution Connecticut College after two close 25-23 sets in their second game of the season.
The Camels got an early lead in the first set but the Seahawks closed the gap with a four-point and five-point burst later in the action. Set two was a back-and-fourth encounter which featured 14 ties and two lead changes. Jenna DeFrancesco's kill tied it up at 22 but, initiated by a kill of their own, the host inched ahead to make it 25-23. In the final set Connecticut took advantage of several small three-point runs to establish a 25-15 verdict.

History: The Seahawks and Camels have met 17 times since the 2003 season. Last year Connecticut College came away with a 3-0 win. In 2023 and 2022, when the teams met, Salve Regina won 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Salve Regina saw 33 kills, two aces, 32 assists and 35 digs. Atop the kill category was Lauren Hoyle (12), Lucy Swanson (6) and DeFrancesco (5).
- Hoyle's hitting percentage of .346 was the team high.
- Kalena Stavish provided both of the Seahawks service aces.
- Lydia Daskalos led the defensive efforts with three blocks and Swanson joined in with nine digs.
ON THE HORIZON:
Women's volleyball heads to the University of Southern Maine tri-match on Saturday, September 6. The Seahawks take on the hosting Huskies at 12 p.m. and the Husson College Eagles at 2 p.m.
