Seahawks pick up NEWMAC 4-0 win over Smith

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- (Saturday, September 27, 2025)-- In the second NEWMAC game of the year the Salve Regina University field hockey team blanked Smith College 4-0 when four different Seahawks scored to assure the win at home on Gaudet Field.

The hosting Seahawks did not waste any time and established a lead right in the first quarter. The Seahawks nearly made it on the board less than one minute into the encounter, but were called for using the back of the field hockey stick, an illegal movement, in the process. However this did not deter Jordyn Pineau from lining up a shot from the top of the striking circle, which Georgia Costello was able to direct into the goal at 8:03 into the game.

In the second period the Seahawk scorer, Natalie Vaughn, fired off an initial shot attempt, which ricocheted off the Bears' goalie and gave Vaughn the opportunity to score on her second 25 minutes into the action.

Julia Decker and Eliot Lund went on to score their 12th and sixth respective goals of the season to propel the Seahawks to victory.
