BRIGHTON, Mass. -- (Saturday, September 6, 2025)-- Five different Seahawks scored and first year
Elliot Lund secured two goals in Salve Regina University field hockey's 6-1 victory over the hosting Simmons University Sharks in non conference play on Saturday.
The Seahawks got right to work in the first quarter when
Georgia Costello scored with an assist from
Molly Kearney. The Sharks held Salve to 1-0 going into the second quarter but the visiting Seahawks stayed persistent with two goals before the end of the first half, thanks to
Julia Decker and
Sage Mauro. Decker has scored in all three of Salve Regina's contests this season. Lund went on to score twice and
Molly Kearney added to the tally before the Sharks squeezed in a goal of their own with less than three minutes to go in the game.

History: Since the 2006 season the Seahawks and Sharks have met nine times. With today's matchup Salve is 5-4 against Simmons. When the teams last met in 2022 the Sharks won 2-0 but the year prior the Seahawks came away with a 4-1 victory.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Salve Regina outshot Simmons 30-5. Salve's game high of 16 came in the second quarter.
- First year goalkeeper Siany Ortez played for 50 minutes and made two saves, with a strong Seahawk offense keeping action away from their defensive end.
- Lund led the Seahawks offense with two goals and two assists.
