MIDDLETOWN, R.I. --Despite a hard-fought effort on the road, the No. 14 Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team narrowly dropped a 2-1 decision to Saint Michael's College in the second game of the weekend series.
Saint Michael's struck first in the opening period when the Purple Knights put the hosts ahead 1-0 at the 10:04 mark. Early in the second, Salve Regina capitalized on a power play as
Logan Calder wired home a shot at 3:36, tying the game at 1-1 with assists from
Cade DeStefani and
Parker Mabbett. In the third, Saint Michael's regained the lead when the host scored unassisted at 5:21 — the eventual game-winner.
