MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team delivered a gritty and timely performance to earn a 2–1 victory over Albertus Magnus College on Saturday night on the Seahakws' home Howard Rink.
Salve Regina became an early leader when
Ashtyn Bringardner converted a power-play opportunity 13:50 into the first period, giving the Seahawks a 1–0 advantage. The defense responded with intensity, limiting Albertus Magnus' chances in the opening frame. In the second period,
Riley Esposito tacked on the team's second goal at 13:31, finishing a strong offensive zone sequence and putting Salve Regina up 2–0. Albertus Magnus staged a comeback, scoring a power-play goal at 9:45 to cut the deficit to 2–1. But Salve Regina's defense remained steady, blocking shots to preserve the lead.
