NASHUA, N.H. --The No.15 Salve Regina men's ice hockey team unleashed an offensive storm against Rivier University for an 11-1 final verdict on the road Friday night.
Salve Regina struck first just over four minutes in, when
Thomas Gerum finished a quick-moving sequence to ignite the offense. The goal opened the floodgates. Less than three minutes later,
Jonathan Hammel doubled the lead, and the Seahawks continued to pour it on with two more goals before the period expired, skating into the first intermission with a commanding 4–0 advantage.
The Seahawks scored five more times in the middle frame, capitalizing on forceful puck movement and relentless forechecking.
Cade DeStefani,
Logan Calder,
Brady Plaza,
Parker Mabbett, and
Brendan Abban all found the back of the net in the second period. Rivier managed its lone goal on the power play, but it did little to shift the flow as the Seahawks carried a 9–1 lead into the third.
With the outcome firmly in hand, Salve Regina showed no signs of easing up in the final period. Hammel added his second goal of the night on the power play, and
Jack Arizo capped the scoring late to complete the 11-goal outburst.
