Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Seahawks surpass Bison 4-2 in third period

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team delivered a decisive performance in their 4-2 victory over the visiting Nichols College Bison when four different Seahawks scored Friday night at Howard Rink.

After a quick strike by the Bison just 6:28 into the first period, the Seahawks found themselves in an early hole. But rather than wilt, the host answered with force in the second frame. Just past the midway point of the period, Ashtyn Bringardner potted the equalizer unassisted, setting the tone for the comeback. Less than a minute later, Reese Pereira gave Salve Regina their first lead of the night with a goal assisted by Caroline Batchelder

Nichols battled back to knot the score at 2-2, but the Seahawks refused to let momentum slip. In the third period, Jennifer Drevitch restored Salve Regina's advantage on a play set up by Pereira and Batchelder. Then with under a minute remaining in regulation, Maggie Donahue sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, sending the home crowd home happy.
