MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team picked up one of the most complete performances of the season in a decisive 6–1 victory over Rivier University in the Seahawks last home game of the 2025-26 regular season.
After a tight opening period, Salve Regina struck first just under nine minutes in when
Jill Peabody launched a shot past the Rivier netminder to give the Seahawks a 1–0 lead. Rivier answered late in the frame to knot the game at 1–1 heading into the locker room, but that would be their only goal of the night.
With a quick power-play opportunity early in the second period,
Riley Esposito buried her first of two on the night, assisted by teammate
Caroline Batchelder, to regain the lead. Just minutes later, Esposito struck again on a clean feed from Batchelder and
Kiersten Rasmussen, pushing the score to 3–1. By the second intermission, the Seahawks had full control of the game.
Batchelder extended the lead with a goal only minutes into the third frame, setting the tone for the final chapter.
Lucille DelGallo added another tally with Esposito assisting yet again, and
Reese Pereira capped off the scoring with an unassisted effort late in the period to make it 6–1.
