WASHINGTON (Thursday, February 19, 2026) -- The
#10-ranked Salve Regina University baseball has released the
2026 schedule beginning with the season opener on Friday, February 20, at Catholic University at noon. The Seahawks and Cardinals meet for the fourth straight season in the nation's capital during the Matt Kurkjian ALS Awareness Invitational, and it's the third consecutive season Salve Regina throws its first pitch of the year there. Due to weather forecasts, the original schedule which had been for three days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) has now been condensed to two with Salve Regina facing both Dickinson (1 p.m.) and Stevens (7 p.m.) on Saturday, February 21, before returning home.
"We have one of the most challenging schedules in recent years," says head coach Eric Cirella '05, entering his 13th season at the helm. "Our non-conference schedule is full of teams that will be in the Top 25 percent in country for NPI. That should prepare us for NEWMAC play, which keeps getting more competitive every year. I hope when the middle of April comes around, we are battle tested from the previous two months, and are resilient enough to persevere and play our best baseball when it counts."
The 40-game slate features 17 home games on the natural grass of
Reynolds Field, including seven against a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference foe, as the Seahawks aim to defend their 2025
NEWMACÂ Championship captured on Mother's Day last year.
The Seahawks will follow up their opening three-game series with another one on the road the next weekend at Montclair State University (Fri., Feb. 27 - Sun., Mar. 1) before hosting the University of Southern Maine in their home opener on Saturday, March 7 (doubleheader begins at noon) at Reynolds Field (or someplace where there's no snow).
