MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team relented 14-10 to the Wheaton College Lyons Saturday at Gaudet Field, after returning from a two-game stint in Hilton Head, S.C.
The visitor claimed an early 2-0 lead but the Seahawks answered back with a set of goals from Daniella Bruno, Madison Maire and Delia Tarasco to put the host ahead 3-2 heading into the second quarter. The Seahawks once again battled back from a deficit with successes from Maire, Alix Madden and Nora Cooney for a 7-6 lead early in the third quarter.
The turning point of the contest occurred late in the third period when Wheaton went on a 7-0 scoring run. Although Madden and Avery Nistl were able to combine for three goals late in the encounter the Lyons held onto a 14-10 NEWMAC win.
