MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Salve Regina University women's lacrosse fell 18-7 to Springfield College in NEWMAC action at Gaudet Field Saturday after a competitive first quarter.
Nora Cooney sank the first goal less than one minute into the game and put the Seahawks ahead again 2-1 several minutes later with her second strike of the game. Although the first 15 minutes were back-and-forth Springfield went on a scoring run in the second frame to jump out to a 13-3 lead by halftime.
In an effort to shift momentum Madison Maire was the first to score in the second half, but the Pride's early success remained as the clock ticked down. Alix Madden was Salve Regina's leading scorer with a hat trick and one assist on the day.
The Seahawks honored senior Delia Tarasco and graduate student Lois Manning as part of senior day before the contest.

NOTEWORTHY
- Defender Abigail Tishon caused four turnovers and picked up three ground balls as the team leader.
- Cooney was a threat offensively with three points and as the Seahawks' draw control leader
- Seahawk goalie Mary Flynn Kayajan made six saves.
