Seahawks defy Corsairs, 19-6

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Daniella Bruno netted six goals in the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team's soaring 19-6 triumph over visiting non conference opponent UMass Dartmouth under the lights at Gaudet Field on Friday night.

The Corsairs found the back of the net first just three minutes into the game, however in a dramatic change of events Salve Regina went on a 4-0 scoring run led by Nora Cooney to give the host a 4-1 lead by the beginning of the second quarter. The Seahawks' longest unanswered offensive push came in the third quarter with a 6-0 stretch in which Alix Madden contributed three goals.

With 15 minutes to go in regulation Salve Regina had already established an 11-goal advantage, leading 16-5. In the final minutes of play Bruno and Avery Nistl combined for three goals to solidify the 19-6 verdict.
