MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Salve Regina University women's lacrosse used a dominant fourth quarter surge to erase a late deficit and secure a 17-9 NEWMAC victory over Mount Holyoke College Wednesday night at Gaudet Field.
The Seahawks started the game out with a 3-0 run thanks to a series of goals from Madison Maire, Alix Madden and Nora Cooney. Madden would go on to pot five more goals and one assist against the Lyons as the game's leading scorer.
The game went back and forth until the third quarter when the Lyons found a two-goal lead with four unanswered goals. Salve Regina staged a comeback in the fourth quarter with nine unbroken goals, led by Lois Manning who sank the first less than a minute in. Maire scored four of the host's goals in the closing frame as a key contributor in the victory over Mount Holyoke.

NOTEWORTHY
- Seahawk goalie Mary Flynn Kayajan made five saves which, combined with an explosive offense, kept the Seahawks in the lead.
- Overall Salve Regina picked up 25 ground balls led by Madden, who had six.
- As a defensive leader Alexandra Walsh caused four turnovers.
- Cooney saw the team high seven draw controls.
